Adrian Lock, the Spanish women’s national hockey team coach and Fred Soyez, the Spanish men’s national hockey team coach, will remain in charge, at least until the Tokyo Olympics.

This has been announced by the Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Hockey Federation (RFEH), who have decided to continue showing their confidence in both coaches.

Santiago Deó; president of the RFEH, said: “That it was the most logical decision. Our confidence in the coaches remains intact, after we have both qualified for the next Olympic event, “adding that” we trust that the two teams will play a great role in Tokyo. ”

Lock, who took the reins of the #RedSticks in January 2013, led the U21 national team to continental silver. Under his reigns, he has achieved the historic bronze medal at the last World Cup in 2018 and a metal of the same color at the last European Cup in Antwerp.

He has also managed to prevail in the World League Round 2 of 2017 and in the Hockey Series of 2019. After being absent in London 2012, he took the national team to participate in Rio 2016.

Under the reigns of Soyez, the Spanish team qualified to participate at the Rio 2016, where only Argentina; Subsequent Olympic champion, prevented the Spanish from going to the semifinals of the competition after a very tight quarterfinal match.

Subsequently, access to the semifinals in round 2 of the World League classified them for the 2018 World Championship.
