Indian Legends Who Have Backed Captain Rohit Sharma More Than Captain Virat Kohli

Indian captain Virat Kohli is leading the national team from the front and guiding to the successful route consistently. Since he has taken up this crucial role, more importantly as the replacement of the former captain MS Dhoni, India have achieved great success both inside and outside India.

Kohli first started to lead the Indian team only in the Test side. After Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy role in the limited-overs cricket, Kohli has taken up these roles too, which have added immense pressures on him.

Meanwhile, present India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has also shown his impressive leadership quality when he has got the opportunities. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, he is now the most successful captain as the Mumbai Indians (MI) have won it for the four times, all under his captaincy.

On the other hand, while Virat Kohli-led India have never won the international tournament, Rohit Sharma-led India have already won the Nidahas Trophy 2018 and Asia Cup 2018. However, both are currently very strong captains in Indian cricket.

As Kohli handling all the three formats, some former Indian great cricketers believe that Rohit is the right option who can at least share this captaincy responsibility with Kohli.

Here we are talking about five Indian legendary cricketers who have backed captain Rohit Sharma more than captain Virat Kohli.

The legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has experienced the leadership of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the practical way. Yuvraj played under Kohli’s captaincy during his late international career and IPL 2014 when he served for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Meanwhile, he spent the last IPL season (2019) under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy for Mumbai Indians (MI).

Yuvraj feels that maintaining captaincies in all the three formats is adding workload pressure to Kohli. As Rohit has proved his impressive captaincies in the limited-overs cricket, the board should think about him at least for the T20l captaincy.
